Also... I am unashamedly interested in Arthur's horrible abusive childhood. What can I say, I really like my angst.

re:Arthur's childhood, dunno if I'll ever write it, so here's a (really long-ass) summary:
Some people have the ability to dreamshare naturally, without the need for a PASIV device. Arthur had the misfortune to be one of them. Since his father had Issues, Arthur ended up dying horribly in his father's dreams, over and over, when he was like five.
This, naturally, made Arthur have Problems. Then his sister started bringing her BF Gabe over, and things were looking better - Gabe really connected w. Arthur, taught him math and totally helped him in general. (Arthur is 9 at this point, v. smart but tends to violent tantarums.)
Excpet then Gabe molests him. In a dream. (Gabe is a pedo, never acted on it IRL but - hey, it's a dream and he doesn't know Arthur is really there. Gabe thinks he's lucid-dreaming.) Arthur nearly kills Gabe and runs away from home when he learns (from his father's dreams) that his parents mean to put him in an asylum.
Arthur ends up in Las Vegas, living in the flood-tunnels. Things go okay for a while, then he falls into limbo accidentally. Which isn't all bad for him, actually - gives him some time to sort through his issues. But really he just ends up with other issues instead.
Then (when he's ~13) he starts turning tricks - doing a lot of rationalizations to himself, plus he's kinda detached bc of everything. Eames (who is 16, also a hustler, and calls himself Roland) finds Arthur and sort of falls in love with him. They are Very Platonic with each other. Eames also does pretty much every kind of drug and/or criminal activity he can get himself into.
Then Arthur gets beaten up by a client, Eames goes sort of insane and begs a Random Thug to help. Random Thug ends up being an undercover police officer, gets Arthur into a military school (and eventually the military). Eames gets arrested, deported and ends up getting into a life of crime, albeit one less likely to kill him before he can legally drink.
Then, CANON happens. ALSO THERAPY. YEARS OF IT.

re: Arthur's childhood.... Yeah, I can see why you might never tackle this. IT IS SO DELICIOUSLY ANGSTY, THOUGH. <3! I really appreciate you writing out the summary, though, because it's
completely indulgent of my angst-obsessioninteresting!Still, I wonder if you can approach it from the point of Arthur's therapy (because that part is actually what is most interesting to me)... like, all this stuff coming out to the therapist, and/or to Eames, or just Arthur working through it in his head as he carefully chooses what to tell the therapist. Though I suppose it might end up being less action-y and more thinky.
